Questions

Frequently asked

Short answers about how the studio works. Anything missing? Write to us.

  • What is Inspicacity?

Inspicacity is a site for people who want to make things. It offers creative prompts, drawing challenges, AI art challenges and design contests that give you a reason to sit down and start.

  • Who is it for?

Hobbyists, students and working designers. If you like making things and want a regular push to try something new, it is for you. No portfolio or experience needed.

  • What is the difference between a prompt and a challenge?

A prompt is an open starting point: a word or an idea, any medium. A challenge adds a rule, such as a time limit, a single colour or one continuous line. A design contest goes further and gives you a short brief to work to.

  • Do I need an account?

No. You can read the site and pull prompts from the prompt jar without one. An account gives you a profile with a username and a studio title of your choice.

  • Can I use AI tools?

In AI art challenges, yes: that is the point. For other prompts and challenges, use whatever helps you make the thing. Being open about your process is always welcome.

  • What do I need to take part?

Whatever you already have. A pencil and the back of an envelope is enough for most prompts. Design contests are easier with layout software, and AI art challenges need an image tool of your choice.

  • How do the text alerts work?

Sign up on the Prompts by text page and tick both consent boxes. You will receive recurring creative prompt and challenge texts. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel at any time.
